Vocabulary Grading Guidelines
The following list of procedures are to be followed on all vocabulary
assignments.
Rubrics
(that match these guidelines) have been distributed in school.
- Copy each assigned term.
- Each term is to be written in cursive.
- The correct paper heading
must be written in cursive in the top margin of the paper.
- Read the assigned pages
in your text to locate the
definition of each word.
- Do not use a dictionary or your glossary - unless
expressly permitted to do so.
- Definitions should be written in complete sentences and
should echo
the term.
- Write
the page number from the text on which the definition was found.
- Any term marked with an asterisk (*) requires a drawing or
photograph. No written definition is needed.
- An additional source of
extra credit is to select two
additional terms (not found on the original list) and define these.
- Spell all words correctly, use proper grammar, and
punctuation. Points will be deducted if any errors are
found.
- Mistakes should NOT be crossed out. Use erasable pen,
white labels, or pencil. Neat work is mandatory.
