4th Grade - Overview

Thinking is required.

Assignment Pad & home folder
  1. Students are expected to copy their homework from the homework board in the classroom.  The web based list of assignments is a backup feature.  Please check your student's assignment pad - they should have something written there!
  2. Your child's take home folder is my way of sending work home to you.  Please check it daily - and sign things within two days of receipt.  Your child is graded on his or her timely return.
Binder
  1. Student's binders should have tab dividers - procedures, reading, language arts, mathematics, spelling, science, & technology.
  2. There will be periodic binder checks - handouts and notes are expected to be reinforced and in order (chronologically) in each student's binder.
Printer Problems
  1. If your printer is broken, or out of ink, please send a note in.
  2. This explanation will not be accepted from your child without your note accompanying it.  Please do not permit your child to send his or her work via e-mail.
  3. This removes the opportunity for problem solving.
Grading Policy
  1. Parent homework assignment:  Please send me an e-mail from the e-mail account you use regularly. Your e-mail should include your child's name and homeroom.
  2. Numerical grades will be given for all assignments.  In general, students who fail to complete assignments in the allotted time will stay in at recess to finish these (Recess Academy); then after school, then work must be completed for homework.
  3. Please help your child meet deadlines.
  4. Student's grades in each subject are weighted.  Percentage allocations vary with the subject.
Curriculum content
