Create cards for the game of JEOPARDY.  Follow the format given here.  Categories are Geology of the Earth and Moon, Phases of the Moon, Seasons and Tides, exploration, & eclipses.

Read about the earth in space.  Write a 2 paragraph essay explaining how the earth's rotation affect the seasons.  Include a discussion of the magnetosphere in a third paragraph.

Discuss the theory of the origin of the moon.  Relate the moon to manmade satellites.  Create a model of the moon-earth system to show how the moon orbits the earth.

Follow the path of the moon for one month.  Create a calendar of the moon's phases. Your calendar should show the phase on each day; include the date and name of the phase.

Differentiate a lunar and solar eclipse.  Be able to diagram and explain these two types of eclipses.  For extra credit create a model of each.

THE SOLAR SYSTEM

Visit a camera store to see different telescopes.  Learn how to operate one (Mrs. Snyder has one for you to work with).  Make an oral presentation to your class and another of Mrs. Snyder's selection.

Define the terms parallax, light-year, magnitude and absolute magnitude as they relate to stars.  Create a power point explaining the Hertzsprunt-Russell diagram.  Include the relationship between magnitude, mass, and diameter of stars.
