| 1. Select two
cities in New Jersey
that are within 0.5 kilometers of a beach or waterfront. Give their
names, population, county, and find the driving distance to each (from
Norwood.) Express distance units in kilometers. |
| 2. Plan a weekend
trip to go from
Norwood to the closest city. Tell the driving time based on the
speed limits on the road or roads you will travel (give the name of the
road.) Then go from the first of your chosen cities to the second
city. Express driving time and distance as before. Plan a
return trip from the farthest city. Show the cities and counties on a map
of New Jersey. |
| 3. Select three additional
states in the
continental United States that have waterfronts.
You must select a city to
travel to in each state that is within one
kilometer of a beach or water's edge. |
| 4. Find the most
economical flying time and "book" airline travel from
Newark to each of the three
cities. Tell the name of the airline, flight number(s), departure
time, arrival time, and give details of the round trip. (Check

| 5. Find the
cost of the airfare.
Determine which day of the week is the least expensive day to fly and
return on. Assume you will be vacationing at the beach/waterfront
area for one week. |
| 6. Find 2 pictures of the
waterfront areas near each of your three chosen cities. |
| 7. In each of your three
cities, locate a restaurant, and hotel. Determine the cost of
staying at the hotel for 6 nights. Summarize menu items at the
restaurant you select. Pictures are optional and will provide
extra credit. |
| 8. Determine the type of
water-based recreational activities you will do at each site. One
is required. |
| 9. Find the cost of boat
rental (for example) if your activity was fishing. |
| 10. On this
map of the United States, show the travel plan. Provide the
state name, state capital, and be able to tell the states you would
cross en route. Give the mileage in kilometers. |
| 11. Create a type-written
report. Devise a creative way to present your report to
the
class. Bring your "props" in a suitcase or backpack. Make
sure your written work contains correct spelling, grammar, and
paragraph structure. Presentations
will begin on June 21. |
